This year's program consists of a 7-week training schedule, riding 3 days per week, focused on speed, climbing and endurance, and led by ride leader John Wiesinger. Training days are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, as well as an additional 1-2 days on your own or with friends to supplement your mileage. Fuel your motivation by group training and shared challenges... this program works. The training program will be limited to 30 cyclists, first to register. It is required that participants enter the program ready to ride 25-30 miles at an average pace of 17-18 mph and are comfortable with riding in a group. This is considered an intermediate training program. Beginners should consider the Tuesday Evening Skills Class at North Rim Adventure Sports and/or the Saturday Fitness Ride and the Sunday Easy Does It Ride(s) in their preparation and progression of cycling training and fitness. Program participants should have bikes in good working order with recent tune-ups, tires and tubes, and a saddle bag of supplies. A helmet and a rear tail-light are mandatory, as will be a front light for the evening rides (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.). Light sag support during the rides will be provided but you are responsible for support supplies: tube, air, insta-patch kit, tire boot, cell phone, a few bucks $ and knowledge of the respective ride's route/map. Training begins Tuesday, March 10th. Registration fee is $35. Do the work early and get a jump on your cycling year. The STP is FULL for 2020. |
